Christmas of Selborne, East and West Worldham, Hampshire

Dinah Christmas married Benjamin Fitt on the 14th January 1847 at Kennington, London.  he was 47, she 20.

Dinah was the youngest daughter of Thomas Christmas and Hannah (Taylor), an agricultural labourer in Selborne. However he is descended from Thomas Christmas of Northchappel, Sussex and Binsted, Hampshire who died in 1589 and may have been the Thomas Christmas who contributed £25 to the 1588 Armada fund.

The descent from this Thomas Christmas is as follows,

Henry Christmas ( -1630) of Binsted

Nicholas Christmas (1589- <1644) of Binsted

William Christmas (1655 - 1693) of  'Gibbs' in Selborne

William Christmas (1680 - 1745) of  'Gibbs' in Selborne

Kish Christmas (1724- 1803) of East Worldham

Kish Christmas (1752- 1818) of Kingsley and West Wroldham, married Anne Pink (1752/3 - 1823)

Thomas Christmas (1785 - )

Dinah Christmas (1827 - 1873)

The Christmas Tree is extensive so if you have a 'Christmas' in this part of Hampshire it is a fair bet you can link in somewhere.  As an incentive there are wills, as well as monumental inscriptions, tombs all over the area.

I can take no credit for putting it all together, that should go to John Reeves of Salisbury.
