and Estate Duty Abstract

'Thomas KNIGHT (circa 1742 - 1808), farmer of Bury, Sussex married Mary SOALL at Sutton 30th April 1771, a licence having been granted on 28th April 1771.
Thomas KNIGHT of Bury (several years), farmer, b., aged 29, & Mary SOALL of Coates (1 year), m., aged 20 (consent of her f. Austen S. of Lodsworth, labourer); ss. the sd. T.K. & the sd. A.S. (Sutton)'
Witnesses were John TRIBE (W) and John LANGLEY (W) . (Previous two entries were signed by John TRIBE, and previous also by Jane TRIBE).

Thomas KNIGHT was the occupier of land in Coates, also 'Parsonage' and 'Horncroft End' in Bury owned by Richard Huhhensen esq. and 'Haythorms' in Bury owned by Sir Charles Eversfield.

Thomas was buried at Fittleworth on the 17th April 1808 his wife, Mary, having been buried there on the 13th September 1796.

John KNIGHT was baptised on the 29th April 1773 at Coates and married Anne EEDE on the 17th June 1794 at Bury, a licence being granted on the 9 June 1794

On the 8th May 1819 John paid the  poor rate on Ann EDE's house  in Bury - his mother in law (deceased)

He was buried on the 22nd February 1855 at Bury aged 81

Thomas Knight was baptised on the 13th January 1797 at Bury and married Mary AYLING at Washington on the 7th July 1819.

From 1819 to 1834 he is a blacksmith

Mary KNIGHT (nee AYLING) was buried on the 26th October 1840 at Washington and Thomas remarried to Harriet MEADS on the 27th December 1842.

Thomas was buried on the 10th March 1844 at Washington aged 47.
