1. EDITORIAL

You know, when I started this newsletter, I didn't know if I would be able to find some Starlight Express news every month. But it seems like something exciting has been happening every month, just to oblige me. Or maybe something always happened this often, but I'm only noticing now I write it all down. =) But anyway, this month there's lots of news about Starlight in Germany - scroll down to take a look!

Tom didn't write us anything this month. But, he did meet Alan Titchmarsh, so it's not all bad (no, really. He did).

4. NEWSBYTES

The Open Door Day in Bochum will be on Monday 22nd July. There should be quite a few English and American fans there this year - will you be joining us? Email anna@starlightexpress.org so we can all meet up!

And there'll be lots of changes to the German show before then! The show will be closed from the 26th May to the 1st June, to allow the construction of a new section of racetrack, which will form a sort of Y-shape across the current paddock. There will also be various changes to the show, and some of the costumes and character make up. The following points are from a report of the press conference on the 24th April:

- 'Du Allein' to be replaced with 'Allein Im Licht Der Sterne' (Next Time You Fall In Love). 'Du Allein' will be represented by a little snippet just before the megamix

- the German show is 'contractually regulated' (AltaVista Babelfish's words, not mine! My German is patchy, to say the least...;) ) to run for another 3 years (at least)

- 'Crazy' is also being put into the show, with the same title and similar arrangements to the London show. It's also being put into the megamix

- Songs „Liebesexpress“, „Hilf mir versteh’n“ „Ganz allein“, and „Nicht der rechte Zeitpunkt, nicht der rechte Ort“ are being shortened slightly

- Papa's Blues is getting a completely new beginning

- new lighting, stunts and sound design throughout the show

- new make up for some characters, in particular Electra, who will also have a new wig

- Joule, Ashley and Buffy have new wigs (Joule's apparently made to look 'exploded' - more like London, maybe?), and Rusty will have no wig but wear a cap

- the entrance to the theatre will become even more like a station, with passenger noises and train announcements

- there are plans for a new CD

If you speak German, check out the forum at the official German Fan Club - http://www.starlight-express.net - for lots more detail, and plenty of discussion!
