1. EDITORIAL

It's the first of the month again, and here we are with issue two! Thanks to everyone who's contributed and sent in information for the newsletter, and feedback on the last issue, you are all wonderful! Lots of people seemed to like Tom's column so I've let him write another one (well, 'begged' is closer than 'let'). He says he's running out of things to say about Starlight Express now though so he doesn't know how many more he can write. But I will perservere. And as he says, if anyone else wants to write (it can seriously be about anything, as long as it has a vague connection with Starlight Express and it's clean), then all submissions gratefully received at anna@starlightexpress.org!

3. CASEY'S CORNER

Casey would like to apologise for saying, last month, that Mark McGee was playing Marian in Taboo. The role is of course Marilyn, not Marian.

More ex-London cast members...Jo Gibb is in the next London cast of Les Miserables. Ross Dawes and Leo Bidwell will be in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when it opens in the West End this month. Dustin Dubreuil is in Damn Yankees in Chicago.

Gary Cordice, who was Rusty in London 1985/6, is currently in 'König der Löwen' (The Lion King) in Hamburg in Germany.

As to the new German cast - Richard Woodford, who was Bobo in the last London cast of Starlight, will be playing Electra. And it seems fairly certain that the roles of Rusty and Pearl will be also be played by ex-London StExers - Jamie Golding and Danni Kearsley-Wooller, respectively.

4. NEWSBYTES

This years 'Goodbye Show' in Bochum will be on the 26th May, 2002. The new cast will then start on the 1st of June. The break between those two events is to allow the cast to learn the sections of the show that are being revised - 'Crazy' and 'Next Time You Fall In Love' are apparently going to be added, although it appears that no songs are going to be removed, though some will be shortened to prevent the show having too long a running time.

5. IT'S TOM AGAIN

Stealing Children and Other Fun Games by Tom Cox

As a wise man once said unto me, "Give me back my shoes and leave me alone goddammit!" But that's completely irrelevant and nothing to do with Starlight, chocolate or a combination of both.

First I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that's written to me re my column last month, I accept cash, cheques and all major credit cards, and Jared, I am sorry to have confused you by using numbers greater than 10.

Secondly I'd like to plug my own new website, www.tomandrobin.co.uk, The Adventures of Tom & Robin, which I mostly wrote and it's great, honest.

Thirdly I'd like to have a nice lie down and a cup of tea, but I don't think I can get away with that, so onto something slightly relevant:

Anyone seen that advert on TV a while ago for some best of 80s album with all the dancers on roller skates? I think that shows when roller skates were cool, when StEx was just starting and its great appeal to start with, it was something new. But the problem with its general appeal was that it wasn't new anymore, nothing different, it just became a musical that's on roller skates in the sense of 'can't they think of anything better?' rather than 'wow, cool, a show on roller skates!'. But now it seems roller skates are back with a vengeance! Haven't you seen all those skater kids bombing it around, don't they just look silly? Even around Horsham you get these stupid kids looking 'cool' as they think. Why, just the other day me and a few friends were having a picnic in the park (Haribo, bubble blowers, Bob the Builder and a camera - instant party) and every 5 minutes little grungy kids went zooming past and falling over (oh how we laughed). But musicals aren't cool, roller skates may be making a comeback and those skating kids would surely have enjoyed it in a few years time if it had lasted in London a few more years, but oh well.

Okay, a completely random few thoughts from me, I'll be surprised if Anna puts it in, probably only if there's nothing else worth while to put in. So why don't you other guys out there write a little piece for Anna? Really, it's quite cool and the amount of fan mail I'm getting is astounding (none - well, it astounded me).

So remember:
I Rock, You Rock, We Rock, So Rock On Everybody.

Oh yeah, Stealing Children's quite fun too.
