email; electronic mail transfers files digitally almost instantaneously to other computer users.
emails are simple text messages - lack of formality, use 'Hi' not 'Dear', but can bring back the idea of letter writing.
an email client is needed to send and receive email, eg Outlook Express, Endura, Pegasus
email addresses are of the form username@somewhere.co.uk

Sending email: cc carbon copy; bcc blind carbon copy, add attachments.

Receiving email: organise into folders, reply, forward.

Etiquette
Keep lines short,  don't use CAPITALS, don't use irony, sarcasm,  don't 'Lord it', 
NEVER send credit card or confidential details in an email.

Flames
Irate messages, sometimes picking on an individual like a descent of gnats.

Spam
Sending identical messages to as many email addresses as you can. 
Don't respond, don't give out your email address to 'irresponsible' addresses, use a graphic on your website in place of 'MAILTO'.
