Huge thanks to Steve Haygreen for this page - these sound clips are entirely thanks to him, and I'm very grateful he's letting me put them up here. His great site, Tiretracks, has lots of information on everything ALW and is highly recommended. Thank you Steve!

As you may know, Andrew Lloyd Webber is a man who doesn't like to waste a tune. These clips are proof of that, and very amusing they are too......

Clip 1
This first is a clip from a 1977 single release of 'On This Night of a Thousand Stars', from 'Evita'. You should recognise the intro.

Clip 2
And this is another song which should be recognisable - called 'The Sport of Kings', it's from the abandoned musical 'Cricket'. The lyrics run:

'From Epsom to Uttoxeter, from Cheltenham to Ayr
The thrills and spills are legion in a stable atmosphere
This rather dreary setting won't improve when you're a wife
So throw away your Wisden's, open up your Sporting Life
The sport of kings!'

Clip 3
'Goodbye Seattle' was released in 1970 by Paul Raven (also known as Gary Glitter). In 1984, Lord Lloyd-Webber found another use for the tune.

If you enjoy this kind of thing, then go to Steve's site, and click on the 'bottom drawer' link for a page which specialises in this kind of thing. Again, big thanks to Steve!
