Start GR151309 Parking at the Broadbridge Heath leisure centre
  • Leave the car park heading north and turn left on to the the A264.  In about 400m turn left down a bridleway, crossing the river Arun and up a track to to the Downs Link.
  • Head north west on the Downs link for 2.5km and at the first road junction turn right into Slinfold.  500m later, at a road junction turn left for 200m and then take the bridleway to the west of the church heading north.
  • Follow the bridleway uphill, on tarmac, to Hill house then go right downhill to a fork at GR123322.  Take the right fork heading just north of east until you reach the A281.
  • Cross over the A281 and immediately  turn left on the bridleway that crosses the entrance to Farlington school and then skirts the grounds continuing in the general northeast direction.
  • At Strood lane, GR145331, cross over the road heading north for some 300m and then follow the bridleway round to the east into the village of Warnham at GR152335.
  • Turn right here onto the road and left at the junction in 750m (Byfleets lane) and in 1km turn right into Bailing hill.
  • Carry on over a crossroads turning left at the next junction and then after 100m turn right onto a bridleway that will take you in 500m to the A264. Turn left here and in 400m negotiate a busy roundabout to come to the Broadbridge heath leisure centre.

For a village on the Roman Stane street, immersed in the Wealden iron industry and on the Horsham to Guildford railway line not much has happened in Slinfold.

Along Byfleets lane is the entrance to Field Place and the birth place of poet Percy Bysshe Shelley
