Hariett MANNERS , transportee.

Harriett was baptised on the 6th August 1815 at Chailey, Sussex the daughter of Henry MANNERS and Jane TURLE.
She was transported for life arriving in Tasmania on the 'Mary' on  the 19th October 1831 having been convicted of stealing a dress at a trial in Lewes, Sussex on the 18th December 1830.  Many spoke in Harriett's favour but as she had previouly been found guilty of stealing a pair of gloves and the trial was conducted at haste, the outcome was predictable.

In Tasmania further incidents followed; stealing, disobedience, 'out after hours'.

She was given her ticket of leave on the 25th February 1845 and a conditional pardon in October 1846 having married Richard Hume on the 26th March 1838  at Campbelltown, Tasmania.
