 Jane/Joan AUSTEN married Edward SOALE on the 14th June 1681 at Heyshott.
 From Edward's will (Chichester consistory, 1692),
They had children:-
  • John = Mary TERRY
  • Catherine
  • Austin (1689 - 1761) = Mary EAMES ( - 1775)
  • Edward (1691 - <1744) = Sarah HAKENS ( - 1744)

The parish register between 1640 and 1662 is missing and with it, most likely, Jane's baptism.
From the wills of various Austens, Jane could have been the daughter of John and Katherine Austen and in turn, the grandaughter of Nicholas and Margaret Austen.

On Edward's death Jane married Richard GRAFFHAM as his fourth wife on the 7th May 1700 at Heyshott
